Poha /beaten rice is a nutritious food which i frequently gives to my kids during evening time as a snack .It contains high amount of iron which is mostly required to the healthy growing child,my kids prefer to have this as payasam or as upma ,yesterday I made this yummy pulihora with atukulu{poha in telugu} ,in tamilnadu they call this as puli aval . This can be made during festival season also especially during krishnashtami as prasad because lord krishna likes poha so this offer as prasadam .

INGREDIENTS:

Poha                  : 2 cups

green chillies      : 4

peanuts              : 3 tbsp

Mustard seeds     : 1 tsp

Hing            : 1/8 tsp

tamarind   pulp      : 4 tbsp

oil          : 2 tbsp

salt as per needed

curry leaves     : 2 sprigs

turmeric powder   : 1/2 tsp

chana dal      : 1 tsp

urad dal       : 1 tsp

METHOD:

1.Heat a pan and add oil ,when oil gets heated add mustard seeds,cumin seeds.

2.When they gets splutter add chana dal and urad dal.

3.Dal gets light brown in color add peanuts and green chillies,curry leaves .

4.  Add turmeric powder and hing and stir well.

5. Add poha to the tempered mixture and stir well ,add required salt and mix well .

notes:

Before adding poha to the temper just immerse poha in some water and press with hands so that all water oozes out.
