How many of you like raita ,well I dont like plain curd but like to eat curd in the form of raita or lassi ,when snakegourd are in the season we eat mostly perugu pachadi [what we call raita ] It taste so good with hot steamed rice or even with pulao or jeera rice.My kids love to eat snakeguard as a plain curry but I love to eat as raitha so here Iam posting this delicious snakegourd raita .

 

INGREDIENTS:

Snakegourd                       : 1 long cut into round slices

curd                                  : 250 gms

green chillies                 : 2 to 4

curry leaves                :1 sprig

red chilli powder       : 1/4 tsp

ginger garlic paste    : 1/4 tsp

oil                    : 2 tbsp

hing/asafoetida   :pinch

mustard seeds    :1/8 tsp

cumin seeds     : 1/8 tsp

salt as per needed

METHOD:

1.Wash and peel slightly and cut snakegourd into thin slices. Take a pan add some water and cook for two minutes and strain water and keep aside.

2.Take curd into a bowl and stir with whisk ad.d some water and whisk gently add salt,red chilli powder,ginger garlic paste and whisk gently.

3.Now add snakegourd pieces into curd mixture and stir gently and keep aside.

4.Now heat a pan add oil and add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,red chillies and curry leaves and add hing finally and switch off the flame and add this tempering to the curd mixture.

5.Serve this raita with hot steamed rice or any pulao.
