Undralla guggillu is a traditional dish made during Vinayaka chavithi and it is a savory item made with rice flour and steamed and tempered with some spices. It is stongly believed that lord Ganesha loves undrallu and laddus a lot so mostly south Indian people prepare these sweet and savories apart from all these undrallu is a must in Telugu household during this festival.


Rice flour    : 1/2 cup

water      : 1/2 cup

To temper:

oil     : 2 tsp

mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp

cumin seeds   : 1/4 tsp

hing : pinch

urad dal  : 1/4  tsp

curry leaves : few

red chillies : 3

salt to taste


1.Add water ,salt and teaspoon of oil in a sauce pan.

2. Bring water to boil and turn off the flame.

3. Now take the rice flour and add boiling water little by little to flour and combine to make a smooth dough.

4. Let it cool for 3 minutes. The dough should be soft and sticky and now grease your hands with oil and divide the dough and make into small balls with the dough .

5.Steam the balls in a steamer for ten minutes and keep aside.

6. Now heat a pan and add oil and when it gets heated add chana dal,mustard seeds and hing and add the staemed balls to this temper and serve this as a prasad to lord ganesha.
